By the time you finish reading this card, at least two more children will have been trafficked somewhere in the world. 27 million people are currently slaves—chained to a life of sex or domestic labor. But you are reading a story of emancipation. The girl in the picture is free, timidly peering into a distant hope. She stands beyond the cave, where the terrors of sexual exploitation and cultural indifference have bound her for millennia. God has broken the chains of physical, mental and emotional abuse. He speaks softly of His love and a taproot of peace grows in her soul. Cautiously, she sheds her fear. Her freedom is fragile and there are choices to make. She is a butterfly, vulnerable and feeling the presence of danger. She is also a bird, desperate, yet knowing that to others she is danger. As butterfly, she must choose to trust God for safety, flying freely in the face of danger or succumb to fear and return to the familiar captivity of her cave. As bird, she must choose to trust God for provision, soaring freely, beyond the security of bondage, or revert to predator, destroying lives for a meal. This girl is emancipated, both bird and butterfly, daily receiving courage to choose faith over fear. Can you relate to her story? Have you been freed from bondage or abuse? Will you share the story of your emancipation on our blog? After you share*, give the picture to someone else, saving the ID**, so you can follow your picture’s journey around the world at rickstillartist.com/the-stories.
